Position Summary
The Associate Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides day-to-day HR support to a smaller portfolio of lower- to mid-complexity clients under the guidance of a Manager or Senior HRBP. This role assists with employee relations, compliance guidance, and the delivery of standardized HR solutions while developing foundational expertise in employment laws, HR programs, and service delivery. The Associate HRBP collaborates cross functionally, maintains accurate documentation, and supports process improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support a smaller book of business consisting of lower- to mid-complexity HR-centric clients, under regular guidance from an HRBP Manager or Senior HRBP.
- Develop a working understanding of assigned client business models, workforce practices, and operational needs, escalating nuanced or high-risk topics for review.
- Provide day-to-day HR guidance on common employment and payroll compliance matters, with manager oversight to ensure alignment with state and federal regulations, including multi-state considerations.
- Assist in delivering standardized, best-practice HR solutions aligned with internal policies and frameworks, helping mitigate risk while adhering to established guidelines.
- Support employee relations matters and basic investigations by gathering documentation, preparing summaries, and participating in consultations, with escalation of complex or sensitive cases.
- Provide guidance on routine employment issues such as coaching and counseling, performance management, leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, PWFA-related requests, and terminations, in coordination with leadership and legal partners.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of HR tools and resources, including employee handbooks, job descriptions, PTO programs, performance management tools, and onboarding materials, using approved templates and standards.
- Identify potential legal or compliance risks and promptly escalate concerns to leadership or legal partners to support resolution and reduce exposure.
- Promote awareness and adoption of HR compliance training, tools, and services among assigned clients to support operational effectiveness.
- Accurately document all client interactions in the HRIS and assist with reporting, dashboards, and data analysis to identify trends and recurring issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams, including senior HRBPs, legal, payroll, and operations, to support escalations and contribute to client service plans.
- Help manage client expectations and service delivery by tracking SLAs, annual deliverables, and task completion within a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate routine compliance updates and process changes to clients using approved communication channels and templates.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
- Maintain foundational knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices through training, job aids, and hands-on experience, applying learnings with consistent manager review.
- Regular, on-site attendance is an essential job function due to the need for secure access to systems, collaboration on sensitive technical matters, participation in operational meetings, and hands-on involvement.

- Build, maintain and promote relationships with team members, peers across disciplines, and all other company team members ensuring effective coordination of communications and services affecting clients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Foundational HR principles, including employee relations, performance management, and leaves.
- Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and compliance concepts.
- Familiarity with HR tools, templates, and documentation standards.
- Basic understanding of HRIS systems, reporting, and service delivery models.
