The Director of Business Insights
- Merchandising and Pricing leads a team that delivers high-impact, data-driven intelligence to inform strategic decisions across the organization. By staying closely connected to evolving business priorities, the role proactively identifies emerging needs and shapes an insights strategy that drives action. The Director also develops organizational analytics capabilities by mentoring talent, standardizing best practices, and fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement.
You Will Do
- Lead, mentor, and coach managers and individual contributors, raising the talent bar across the Enterprise Data & Analytics Team and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted partner to executive stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business objectives and insights strategy.
- Translate stakeholder goals into actionable plans for the team, enabling strategic support through clear direction and prioritization.
- Direct the transformation of complex data into compelling narratives that drive clarity, engagement, and action.
- Guide the use of data storytelling techniques to highlight key trends and opportunities for diverse business audiences.
- Present key findings and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing data-informed decision-making.
- Ensure that interactive dashboards and BI products are aligned with strategic goals and continuously refined for clarity and impact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the BI Platforms & Design owner, Data Engineering, and Data Governance teams to ensure alignment with data strategies, architecture standards, and governance protocols.
- Oversee the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of business insights by implementing robust data validation and quality control processes.
- Drive performance and functionality improvements across BI tools and processes, including automation opportunities that enhance scalability.
- Stay current on emerging trends and technologies in data analytics and business intelligence to inform team strategy and innovation.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Analytics Leadership: Demonstrated experience as an analytics leader in e-commerce, retail, or consulting, with a strong understanding of business acumen.
Visionary Thinking: Ability to establish the future vision of Analytics tools and analysis frameworks, including embedding customer metrics into the digital business dialogue. Capability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to drive business outcomes through analytics.
Stakeholder Management: Proactively engages executive stakeholders to understand their challenges and goals. Ability to have a business-first viewpoint.
Technical Acumen: Understands our data pipelines and ability to lead BI configurations, advanced report programming, and technical queries (SQL, R, Python, etc.), and use of BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
Communication
Skills:
Effective communication of technical information and solutions to all levels of the business, along with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
- 10+ years of experience driving data insights and building comprehensive dashboards in a retail/e-commerce enterprise setting.
- 3+ years in a People Leader role.
