IT Infrastructure Engineer Manager
The IT Infrastructure Engineer Manager is responsible for leading a team of Systems Engineers supporting mission‑critical infrastructure across Unix, Linux, Web Sphere and F5 environments.
This role combines technical leadership with operational oversight, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of distributed systems. The Manager will perform hands‑on tasks, delegate responsibilities, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support application hosting, infrastructure upgrades, and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise‑grade Unix/Linux infrastructure, with expertise in F5 load balancing technologies.
The candidate should be well‑versed in virtualization, automation, and monitoring solutions, and capable of managing a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple teams and management levels are essential.
- Lead a team of Unix/Linux/F5 Systems Engineers (junior and senior level)
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of AIX, RHEL, and F5 environments
- Manage team schedules, priorities, and workload distribution
- Act as first point of escalation for technical and operational issues
- Participate in on‑call rotation and ensure timely incident resolution
- Attend project planning meetings and assign work responsibilities
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with security and operational standards
- Coordinate with application teams, developers, and other infrastructure groups
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or industry experience in infrastructure management
- 5–10 years of Unix/Linux systems administration experience
- 3–5 years of experience managing F5 load balancers
- Strong command‑line skills and shell scripting
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Power
VM, VMware) - Familiarity with automation tools
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Solar Winds, etc.)
- Proven track record in patch management and infrastructure upgrades
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience communicating with upper management
