General Manager, Head of Planning & Operations Strategy
The General Manager, Head of Planning & Operations Strategy serves as a senior executive leader responsible for leading GET Freight's enterprise-wide operational strategy, P&L governance, business planning, and execution control across all operating divisions.
This role is responsible not only for developing strategic plans but also for ensuring that approved strategies are executed through each operating team with clear accountability, measurable KPIs, financial discipline, and operational control. The General Manager will oversee company-wide P&L performance in partnership with Operations and Finance and will regularly report business performance, strategic initiatives, risks, and improvement plans to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee.
The position also plays a critical role in aligning GET Freight's business strategy with Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Motor Group, and headquarters-level expectations, ensuring that local execution supports broader group-level objectives, governance requirements, and long-term growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Executive Operations Strategy & Leadership
- Serve as the company's senior operational strategy leader in the absence of a COO.
- Lead development and execution of annual and long-term business strategies across all operating divisions.
- Translate CEO, Board, and HQ strategic direction into actionable operational plans.
- Establish execution priorities, operating targets, and accountability structures for each business unit.
- Provide executive-level recommendations to the CEO on business performance, operational risk, investment priorities, and organizational improvement.
- Company-Wide P&L Management
- Oversee overall operating performance and P&L management across all operating teams.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to review revenue, cost, margin, operating income, and profitability by customer, region, terminal, and service line.
- Identify underperforming business areas and lead corrective action planning.
- Drive cost control, productivity improvement, pricing analysis, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning from an operational perspective.
- Strategy Execution & Operational Control
- Lead the implementation of approved strategies through each operating team.
- Establish governance processes to monitor execution progress, milestones, financial impact, and operational results.
- Hold operating teams accountable for performance targets, KPI results, and execution deadlines.
- Lead cross-functional execution meetings with Operations, Finance, HR, Safety, Asset Management, and Customer Operations.
- Escalate execution risks and recommend corrective measures to the CEO and Executive Committee.
- Board & Executive Committee Reporting
- Prepare and present strategic business updates to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee.
- Lead monthly and quarterly business performance reviews.
- Develop executive reports covering P&L performance, operational KPIs, strategic initiatives, risk factors, and business improvement plans.
- Prepare business cases for major investments, new business initiatives, fleet expansion, technology projects, and organizational restructuring.
- Ensure leadership reporting is accurate, timely, data-driven, and decision-oriented.
- Business Development & New Business Strategy
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, service lines, customer segments, and geographic expansion opportunities.
- Lead feasibility studies, market analysis, pricing models, and profitability assessments for new business initiatives.
- Support strategic customer development and executive-level commercial discussions.
- Evaluate partnerships, joint ventures, carrier alliances, and external vendor opportunities.
- Develop growth strategies for emerging business areas including hydrogen transportation, dedicated transportation, heavy-haul, EV/ESS logistics, brokerage expansion, and advanced logistics solutions.
- Hyundai Glovis & Headquarters Alignment
- Serve as a key coordination point between GET Freight, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Motor Group, and headquarters-level stakeholders.
- Ensure GET Freight's strategic plans, operational priorities, and business initiatives are aligned with group-level objectives.
- Support preparation of reports, business cases, and strategic updates for Hyundai Glovis and HQ review.
- Coordinate with Hyundai Glovis functional teams on planning, finance, operations, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure GET Freight maintains strong governance, transparency, and alignment with parent-company expectations.
- KPI Governance & Performance Management
- Establish enterprise-wide KPI governance across all operating divisions.
- Develop standardized dashboards for revenue, cost, utilization, service performance, productivity, safety, and profitability.
