Overview

Job Title: Welder

This role involves making custom welds using MIG welding techniques. As a Welder, you will be primarily responsible for pipe welding, including Fillet Welds and Butt Welds, with pipe diameters ranging from 4 inches to 60 inches. Structural Welders will focus on plate welding. The company employs a pulse process in welding to ensure precision and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all welds for carbon steel pipes using Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) as the primary process, with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) as a secondary option when necessary.
  • Conduct all stainless steel welds using the SMAW process according to company procedures.
  • Ensure welds are clean, ground, and inspected, and repair any welds if necessary before proceeding to the next operation.
  • Execute welds in the 6G position utilizing fixtures and rotating equipment.
  • Apply welder stamps to every carbon steel fitting for traceability, and additional stamps as required.
  • Adhere to company welding standards and procedures.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in MIG welding, particularly for custom and pipe welds.
  • Ability to pass one or both of the following welding tests: 6G Carbon Test (MIG Welding) and 6G Stainless Test (MIG Welding).
  • Experience with FCAW and SMAW processes for carbon steel and stainless steel.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in plate welding and blueprint reading.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply welding techniques in a fabrication shop environment.

Work Environment

The position is based in a fabrication shop with consistent metal parts and fragments present. It is relatively clean compared to other metal fabrication shops. There are two positions available on the 2nd shift, from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. The shop lacks central heating and air conditioning, which can result in hot conditions during summer and cold conditions during winter, but it is equipped with adequate ventilation and fans.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 – $27.00/hr.
