Summary
Responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of commercial kitchen hood fire suppression systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards; works independently and as part of a service team to support customer safety, regulatory compliance, and company service commitments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect, test, service, and maintain kitchen hood fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A, manufacturer requirements, and local fire codes.
- Perform system installations, repairs, and upgrades as needed.
- Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
- Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and deficiency notices accurately and timely.
- Coordinate with customers, fire marshals, and internal scheduling teams to ensure successful service delivery.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools, and inventory in accordance with company standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and safe work practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours service as required.
High school diploma and 2-5 years’ experience servicing kitchen hood suppression systems or related fire protection systems preferred;
Pre‑engineered Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems Permit and Portable Fire Extinguisher Permit preferred; manufacturer certifications (e.g., Ansul, Pyro‑Chem, Kidde) preferred; knowledge of NFPA 17A and applicable local codes preferred.
Microsoft Office applications; ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications and email.
Physical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; field‑based role at commercial, industrial, and multi‑family properties; exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments; on‑call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
