Groundsperson : Duluth, GA

Pay range: $17–$19 USD per hour (estimated). Final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related factors.

Yes (needed for storm restoration work).

The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing ground work, including clearing brush and trees as directed, and conducting clean‑up at each job site.

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Keep work area clear of debris.
• Work from the ground and clear undergrowth from right‑of‑way using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas‑powered chain saws.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into a brush chopper.
• Use hand lines to lower limbs and equipment.
• Perform general clean‑up of job sites after completion of work.
• Carry, prepare, and store materials, tools, and equipment at the work site.
• Set up and break down road signs as directed.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Drive truck or operate other equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment; keep them neat and orderly; report need for major repairs to the foreperson.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards by enforcing safe job practices, keeping the area clean and orderly, and staying in frequent communication with co‑workers.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.

Groundspersons have no direct reports.

Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.

High School diploma or education equivalent preferred.

• Physical strength and balance to drag heavy limbs and use chain saw and pruners on uneven terrain.
• Ability to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain first‑aid certification and CPR.
• Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Driver’s License required if hired for a driving position.
• Comprehension of verbal job instructions/information.
• Balance over uneven terrain.
• Communication with others.
• Endurance to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day.
• Operation and servicing of all required tools and equipment.
• Travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Position requires employee to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
