Cloud Engineer - Software, Full Stack Developer
Specialty Building Products is currently looking for a Senior Azure Engineer to join our VALUES based organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and delivering secure, high-performing microservices and front-end applications. This is a hands-on engineering role that emphasizes execution and delivery, while also contributing to architecture/design discussions and mentoring other developers.
The engineer will collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, engineers, and data scientists to understand business needs, identify challenges, and build scalable applications that align with SBP’s operational and strategic objectives using modern technologies and best practices.
Responsibilities- Preserve Azure/Microsoft identity while maintaining enterprise transformation posture
- Design and implement SBP’s microservices and front-end applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Develop applications using React/Type Script, Python, FastAPI, and SQL Server.
- Leverage Azure services including App Services, Functions, Storage (Blob, Table, Queue), Key Vault, Service Bus, API Management, and Application Insights.
- Apply source control practices, CI/CD pipelines, and backlog management using Azure Dev Ops, while participating in code reviews to enforce best practices and maintain high-quality code.
- Embed requirements such as security, performance, scalability, and maintainability into designs and implementations.
- Lead debugging and issue resolution, analyzing complex problems across the stack, driving root‑cause analysis, and implementing fixes.
- Contribute technical input to scoping, feasibility assessments, and delivery planning.
- Collaborate with business analysts and department leads to align technical solutions with SBP’s operational and strategic objectives across distribution, sales, and merchandising.
- Champion software best practices by enforcing coding standards, testing, and observability; mentor other developers to raise team capability.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing applications using Python and React.
- Strong experience building and supporting solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced stored procedures and performance tuning.
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops for source control, CI/CD pipelines, and backlog management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure and experience working with key services:
- Azure App Services (Web Apps)
- Azure Functions
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure Key Vault
- Azure Storage (Blob, Table, Queue)
- Application Insights
- Azure API Management
- Azure Service Bus
- Solid understanding of software development best practices and the Microsoft development stack.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and third‑party services.
- Knowledge of Azure identity and access management (e.g., Okta/Auth0, Azure AD/Entra, MSAL).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications- Exposure to containerization technologies like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience working in a Dev Sec Ops environment or applying security best practices in cloud‑based solutions.
- Experience building rules engines that encapsulate business policies and decision logic separate from application code.
- Experience with .NET / C# development.
- Exposure to Generative AI‑enabled approaches to software development (e.g., leveraging LLMs for code generation, testing support, or developer productivity).
