Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Overview

Penske Truck Leasing seeks applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, this position moves box trucks up to 26’, and for CDL Class A will include tractors and trailer movement. The position may also assist the service department by delivering parts and equipment.

This position reports to the Atlanta East location.

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 2:00pm. This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income (0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs).

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer locations
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order; report issues to the location manager
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

• 2 years of driving experience required
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• CDL Class A license preferred
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to work independently, strong customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude
• English language proficiency as required by federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Driver qualification file requirements due to DOT regulations, including an annual MVR check, DOT physical, safety history records, and, for CDL holders, a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to travel as necessary and complete background assessment and drug screening

• Must be able to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs (50 lbs frequent/23 kg; 100 lbs occasional/45 kg)
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area
