Electrical/Electronics Technician III

In Toro’s Landscape and Contractor Group, this role is responsible for providing electrical and electronic support by assembling, modifying, testing, prototyping, troubleshooting, and documenting electrical and electronic systems for Power Systems Center of Excellence, who develop electrified products for The Toro Company.

Work Location

This opportunity is based out of Bloomington, MN international headquarters. Candidates should prepare for a 5-day on-site schedule.

What Will You Do?
  • Construct and test prototype battery packs (Li‑Ion, etc.), chargers, circuit board assemblies, electrical and electronic components and systems, and finished products and machines
  • Construct and test prototype harnesses and validate functionality in machines or stationary equipment
  • Populate, troubleshoot to the component level, and rework circuit board assemblies (soldering, reflow, and inspection)
  • Work independently and under the supervision and direction of others
  • Identify, order and inventory parts and assemblies and test equipment
  • Coordinate test plan logistics with internal and external test facilities
  • Create design and test documentation, updates, and work instructions
  • Manage Electronics Lab, order parts, maintain organization and cleanliness of the lab, and track test equipment
  • Test electrical components, systems, and PCBs using power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, CAN bus analysis tools, signal generators, etc.
  • Other work as assigned
What Do You Need? Education And Experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent 2‑year electrical/electronic technical degree with minimum of five (5) years of experience as an electrical or electronics technician

or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (or equivalent) and minimum two (2) years of experience in related electrical or electronics role
Job Qualifications
  • Demonstrated capabilities in soldering and desoldering, populating and rework of circuit board assemblies, including through‑hole and SMT components
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical and electronic schematics, wire harness drawings, and other electrical system documentation
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities of electrical systems or electronics
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication in English, collaboration and teamwork skills, flexibility, self‑motivation, dependability, punctuality, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail, and performance of quality work
  • Demonstrated ability and self‑motivation to learn new skills, technologies, procedures, test equipment, techniques, and software applications
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, to communicate status
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use basic hand and power tools
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Familiarity with basic terminal crimping tools
  • Must be able to work independently and under the direction of others - as a self‑starter and in team environment supporting cross‑functional staff members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Capabilities
  • Knowledge of battery technology and battery safe‑handling procedures is preferred
