NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is looking for an onsite Commodity Manager to join our Supply Chain team. The Commodity Manager is responsible for leading the sourcing, procurement, and replenishment strategy of their assigned commodities. Recommending supply partners, sourcing policies, quoting, inventory strategies, cost control and forecasting.
This is an onsite opportunity in Winsted, Minnesota.

Salary Range: $88,000 - $110,000 per year (Exempt)
In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
Shift
Schedule:
1st shift Monday - Friday Business Hours
Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A
- Procure material from suppliers for a multi-site operation
- Implement & manage sourcing strategies that support the needs of the business
- Build, develop, and manage win-win supply agreements
- Implement replenishment strategies that balance internal customer service levels, material turns, and cost
- Mitigate supply and cost risks for made & melted in the US supply chain
- Analyze costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditures
- Accountable for the make / buy decision for new and existing items
- Collaborate and effectively communicate between stakeholders
- Support production and scheduling teams by ensuring materials are available to align with scheduling
- Negotiate pricing and control costs
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related technical field
- Previous steel, metal fabrication, or steel service center experience preferred
- Extensive experience in ERP/MRP systems, preference for Epicor
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Previous work experience in purchasing in a manufacturing setting
- Capacity to adapt effectively and professionally to changing work priorities
- Analytical skills; able to synthesize market and pricing information to draw actionable recommendations
- Knowledge of accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research
- Effective written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally
- Problem analysis and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and influencing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative approach in team and individual settings
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk short distances. On occasion, the employee may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.
