Operations Manager
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Project Superintendent, the Field Superintendent is directly responsible for coordinating and supervising the assigned on‑site construction activities in accordance with project documents, safety and scheduling from conception to completion. The Field Superintendent provides direct leadership, oversight and management of the assigned construction activities at a specific project on an on‑site location, ensuring optimum utilization of on‑site resources, subcontractors, labor, materials and equipment while maintaining construction quality and documentation.
EssentialFunctions
- Schedule – Assist with scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and materials; manage daily production schedules and maintain documentation, field notes, punch‑lists, hot lists and lessons learned.
- Quality – Manage quality assurance and control procedures; ensure work complies with contract documents and specifications; review plans, submittals and RFIs.
- Safety – Enforce safety, clean‑up and risk management protocols in accordance with the company safety program and applicable codes.
- Budget – Assist in managing materials purchases and field operations sequencing; help prepare project updates and documentation.
- Administration – Supervise construction activities, maintain hard and electronic files, manage emails and Outlook folders, and assist with private consultant reports.
- Municipal Relations – Work with municipalities and utility providers for service installation and inspections.
- Punch‑List Management – Write, execute and re‑walk punch lists until all items are 100% completed.
Education: High school diploma required; construction‑related education preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years managing multi‑family construction projects with a stable employment history and a proven track record.
Technical
Skills:
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook; strong oral and written communication skills; solid understanding of construction principles and techniques; problem‑solving, forward‑thinking and planning abilities.
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10‑hour to 30‑hour certification a plus; first aid training.
