Job Description
Atlas is seeking an energetic Roadway Construction Inspector to join our Gwinnett County Program Management team. In this role, you will support roadway construction projects by performing independent inspections, verifying compliance with contract documents, and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule.
This position plays a key role in maintaining construction quality and supporting infrastructure improvements in the Duluth, GA community.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct thorough, independent inspections of roadway construction activities to ensure full compliance with contract documents, project specifications, and quality standards
- Accurately measure, verify, and quantify contractor‑performed work to support payment validation and project tracking
- Maintain detailed daily documentation of field activities, ensuring all project records are complete, accurate, and up to date
- Coordinate and assist with project material testing to confirm compliance with applicable standards and specifications
- Inspect concrete and asphalt placement, as well as erosion control measures, to ensure adherence to project requirements and all applicable state and federal regulations
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management with 0–2 years of related experience OR
- High School diploma with 5+ years of roadway construction inspection experience
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong math skills, including geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric applications
- Working knowledge of roadway construction practices, materials, and equipment (GDOT experience preferred)
- Preferred certifications such as GSWCC Level 1A, GDOT WECS, GDOT Field Concrete Technician, or ACI Field Technician
