Job Summary
Veit is seeking a Superintendent for our Demolition & Blasting team at Rogers, MN or New Berlin, WI. The role involves daily site management, ensuring projects meet safety, design, budget, and schedule requirements. The Superintendent will direct lead personnel and staff on each site and coordinate with General Superintendents and crews.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate daily with General Superintendents regarding job‑specific needs, workforce and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate with job site crews to meet project time schedule and workforce needs.
- Schedule and monitor subcontractors to ensure work complies with agreements.
- Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective action.
- Conduct Job Hazard Awareness meetings, stretching, and weekly Tool Box talks.
- Keep daily records: logs, equipment and material schedules, time cards.
- Manage field personnel fairly and in compliance with Veit policies, local and federal laws.
- Address staff performance issues promptly.
- Participate in pre‑construction and regular job site meetings; prepare documentation for safety, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
- Ensure all work follows specified quality standards; inspect field work and materials.
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
- Engage in training for construction methods and safety; support staff training opportunities.
- Keep the general superintendent informed of actions affecting project success or company operations.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- 5–10 years of heavy industrial demolition experience.
- OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to audit directions and speak before groups and individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with mathematical concepts, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Analytical skills: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in diagrammatic form.
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- 25–75% travel within the Midwest region.
Required to lift or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stretch, talk, and hear; occasionally stoop or kneel. Exposed to machinery, loud noises, variable weather conditions, and environmental hazards.
