PHYSICIAN - Emergency Medicine - Duluth, MN

Overview

We are a regional Emergency Medicine team based in Duluth, MN, offering a mix of urban and rural practice with a hub-and-spoke care model. The team emphasizes excellence in patient care and camaraderie, with strong leadership support and opportunities to work across Duluth and a subset of six regional EDs. Compensation and benefits are competitive, and the team includes physicians at various career stages who are engaged with the lakeshore community.

The goal is to fill this position in 2027. You will enjoy variety by working roughly half of your shifts in Duluth and half at a subset of our six regional EDs, with flexible scheduling among teammates. Regional sites include Aurora, Virginia, Moose Lake, Sandstone, Deer River, and Superior, WI.

• Annual ED volumes: 42K in the Duluth ED (40 beds, state-of-the-art facility).
• Large catchment area with a full complement of collaborative specialists and subspecialists (PICU/NICU teams, pediatric subspecialists, neuro-interventional team, STEMI team, etc.).
• Shift structure: 8- and 9-hour shifts; double & triple physician coverage with APP support 7 days/week.
• Admit to St. Mary’s Medical Center (330-bed hospital, Level I Adult and Level II Peds Trauma Center).
• Full spectrum of emergency medicine care including pediatrics.
• Opportunity to teach FM residents and medical students, if interested.
• Supportive work environment with collaborative consultants; strong nurse teams and behavioral health resources in ED.

Regional sites ED volumes range from 3.5K–12K patients/year, all level IV trauma; admissions may be transferred to Duluth as needed. Scheduling remains flexible with physicians choosing a mix of Duluth and rural sites. Telemedicine support is available (stroke, psychiatry, NICU, hospice, cardiology).

$246.51 per hour. Hired candidates may be eligible for bonuses, quality incentives, or production-based compensation.
