Job Summary:

The UB/UBMS Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) is a live-in, short-term position responsible for overseeing the safe operation of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science during the summer program, specific to the residence hall. The RHC directly supervises up to eight Team Leaders and is supported by UB/UBMS full-time professional staff. The main responsibilities of the RHC are to make sure a safe learning environment is upheld and Team Leaders are supported in doing their jobs.

This position does not have a caseload of students but rather oversees all students and summer staff in terms of enforcing rules, supporting students, planning activities, coordinating the general operations of the residence hall, and effectively relaying information to full-time professional staff.

This position must be able to work for the full six-week summer component, with a mandatory 1-day introductory walkthrough, and 3-day training before the start of the program (on-campus housing will be provided for the training).

Key Results/Responsibilities:

* Coordinate, oversee, and delegate activities for students during non-class times

* Respond to emergencies

* Support Team Leader staff

* Live in the residence hall with the students

* Promote the objectives of UB and UBMS

* Complete the Student Affairs Student Employment Professionalism Rubric with staff

* Tutor students, as needed

* Conduct yourself as a positive role model at all times

* Enforce rules in a consistent and fair manner

* Efficiently relay information to professional staff

* Carry on-call duty phone, or delegate on-call responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience working with high school students

* Currently enrolled college student or recent college graduate

* Academic success in basic academic areas, with math and science courses strongly preferred

* A cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

* Work evenings and designated daytime hours

* Attend nightly staff meetings

* Attend summer training:
June 10 - 12, 2026

* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals

* Excellent organizational and planning skills

* Evidence of leadership qualities

* Enthusiastic and responsible
