Position OverviewPosition Type:
Full‑time.
Duty Days Per Year: 186 (prorated from start date).
Hours Per Day: 8.
Salary: $49,866 - $92,810 (per Teachers Work Agreement).
Supervisor: Katie Mitchell, Program Supervisor.
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Supervisor, the Assessment Special Education Teacher is responsible for facilitating and assisting with the successful completion and communication of special education initial evaluations and three‑year reevaluations. The teacher would also complete and communicate the Minnesota eligibility criteria for each disability area considered for every student that goes through evaluation. The evaluation process identifies the eligibility area and educational needs for students.
Responsibilities- Monitor and organize student evaluation needs (initial and reevaluation), timelines, and due dates at assigned sites to provide special education evaluations and communication in accordance with due process.
- Acquire parental/guardian input for evaluation planning.
- Communicate with intervention teachers at assigned sites to gather pre‑referral data.
- Participate in Child Study Team (CST) meetings at each assigned site to ensure that all components of evaluation are being considered and documented in evaluation PWN.
- Distribute and collect checklist and protocols to staff and families.
- Complete academic testing, observations, and evaluation writing.
- Schedule evaluation share/IEP meetings.
- Monitor all evaluation reports for completion.
- Send evaluation reports to families and case managers.
- Communicate with case managers, service providers, and program supervisors.
- Minnesota Special Education Teacher Licensure.
- Special education teaching experience is preferred.
