District Special Education Flex Paraprofessional at Crestview Elementary School
OverviewPosition:
Special Education Flex Paraprofessional. Assignment location:
Crestview Elementary School. Hours per day: 6.25 hours (7:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with ½ hour unpaid lunch). Starting base pay: $22.25 per hour. Anticipated start date:
September 2 2026. Availability:
June 5 – 10 2026 or until filled.
- Consult daily with licensed special education teacher regarding daily responsibilities.
- Assist in implementing district policies and procedures including emergency procedures, building orientation, confidentiality, student vulnerability, data collection, and classroom management.
- Support students academically (reading, writing, math) by implementing curriculum, adapting instructional strategies and materials under licensed teacher direction.
- Assist students who need login/lunch, transfers, and other activities of daily living.
- Accept work direction willingly, shift assignments, and adapt to new assignments as needed.
- Support teacher with behavioral management techniques, including redirection and restraints if necessary; supervise students during cooling‑off time and implement positive behavior support.
- Collect and record student data, communicate information to licensed teacher(s) and other staff.
- Provide services in a manner that respects distinctions between teacher, paraprofessional, and other staff roles.
- Maintain confidentiality, fairness, respect, and equity with students, families, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet District 833 Highly Qualified requirements (2‑ or 4‑year degree, 60 semester credits, or successful completion of Para Pro).
- Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
- Ability to reinforce math, reading, and writing skills in elementary and/or secondary classrooms.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds.
- Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
- Positive behavior modeling, neat appearance, proper grammar.
- Self‑directed with ability to organize small‑group activities.
- Computer skills: email, Internet navigation, Microsoft Word.
- Pass paraprofessional fitness‑for‑duty tests.
- Prompt, reliable attendance.
- Active participation in district‑sponsored training.
- Positive communication with students, parents, coworkers, supervisors.
- Demonstrates appreciation of diversity and use of behavioral management techniques.
- Knowledge of basic academics and behavior of elementary/secondary students.
- Certification in first aid and CPR.
- Previous experience with students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of special‑education terminology.
- Good organizational and time‑management skills.
