Secondary Band Teacher

Paynesville Area Schools is seeking a dedicated, student‑centered educator to join our team as a 1.0 FTE 6‑12 Band Teacher beginning the 2026‑2027 school year. The successful candidate will create an engaging learning environment that promotes academic excellence, critical thinking, and positive character development for middle and high school students. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, families, and administration to support student success and contribute to a positive school culture.

A Minnesota teaching degree is required in K‑12 Instrumental and Classroom Music. Related licensure and/or experience in the music field may be considered.

• Develops a balanced music program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal and instruction.
• Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature as appropriate.
• Plans, coordinates rehearsals and directs students in musical programs and performances outside the classroom.
• Schedules and coordinates performance dates for auditorium use, arranges for set up and take down of equipment and cares for auditorium.
• Develops and administers music education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small/large group instruction and student learning.
• Communicates with students, parents and multiple stakeholders.
