About the Job

The Accreditation Director serves as the subject‑matter expert for Minnesota's legislated regulations governing teacher preparation programs and the full spectrum of accreditation requirements s role provides guidance on risk mitigation and program design implications to advise decision making and strategic planning to senior faculty and staff. The Director manages the Accreditation, Licensure, & Field Experience (ALFE) Office and supervises the ALFE staff, ensuring the department’s compliance with state and federal standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting the success of teacher preparation programs.

Job Duties Accreditation (43%)
  • Interpret Minnesota's legislated rules and implications for teacher preparation design, faculty qualifications, clinical experiences, assessment plans, and designated school partnerships.
  • Provide expertise, recommendations, and support for applying the rules to UMD programs.
  • Develop and document evidence of compliance for all units and programs.
  • Project manage re‑accreditation self‑study reports and accreditation site visits.
  • Guide the composition and editing of the Unit Continuous Improvement Report to meet re‑accreditation requirements.
  • Lead administration of assessment and clinical experience software (Student Learning and Licensure), ensuring effective usage and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate training and ongoing support for software users.
  • Collect and organize accreditation data and evidence for successful ongoing accreditation.
  • Develop and manage federal and state reporting processes.
  • Lead management of web content relevant to accreditation as required by regulatory bodies.
Compliance Assurance (21%)
  • Anticipate changes in teacher preparation requirements and assess their impact on department operations.
  • Assist leadership in developing and implementing corrective action plans for compliance risks.
  • Determine internal schedules for accreditation activities to meet all academic year and accreditation cycle targets.
  • Deliver guidance on mitigating compliance vulnerabilities.
  • Update faculty on relevant compliance topics, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate compliance changes, conduct data analysis, and participate in state‑level work groups.
  • Track progress of compliance efforts and implement improvements in communication and monitoring.
  • Develop, initiate, and maintain all national and state reporting.
  • Attend state and national conferences related to education compliance software.
Management (21%)
  • Serve as unit administrator of Student Learning and Licensure (SLL).
  • Build SLL to support data collection for state accreditation and federal compliance.
  • Train and support faculty, staff, and students in SLL access.
  • Design instructional materials for SLL learning.
  • Manage and process assessment data within SLL.
  • Collect user feedback and implement product improvements.
Supervision (15%)
  • Provide leadership and supervision for assigned staff, overseeing day‑to‑day workflow.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Support professional development, foster collaboration, and promote continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate collaboration across programs to achieve compliance objectives, maintain accurate reporting, and meet accreditation deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS plus at least five years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree plus at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Commitment to serving diverse students in an inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated record of serving diverse students in an inclusive environment.
  • Familiarity with PELSB standards for licensure.
  • Familiarity with national education accreditation standards.
  • Experience in program accreditation and licensure.
  • Experience providing faculty support.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with a variety of data management systems.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data and create reports for multiple audiences.
  • Prior experience managing or supervising a team of employees.
  • Graduate‑level study or degree in a related field.
  • Supervisory experience.
