Responsible for the instructional program and guidance of students identified as needing special education services.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or an out‑of‑state Teaching Certificate appropriate for the position.
• ESL Certification required during the 1st year if not already obtained.
• Certification must meet all federal and state law requirements for this position.

• Extensive knowledge of effective social behavioral practices for students with Autism in mainstream settings.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and monitoring complex behavior intervention plans.
• Expertise in data collection systems to develop instructional and behavioral strengths, needs, and goals, and for progress monitoring.
• Training in de‑escalation and restraint techniques as required by the district.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient use of technology.
• Physical capacity to meet the needs of students with physical disabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with adults and children.

• Adhere to the district's philosophy of instruction.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles and present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Participate in the identification and evaluation of learner competencies.
• Recommend appropriate goals and objectives to meet learner needs.
• Assist in developing and writing students' IEPs.
• Follow specific instructional objectives based on individual student learning styles.
• Implement new methodologies, philosophies, and innovations.

• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Serve as a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
• Assist students with physical disabilities as needed.

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Attend required meetings and complete required reports.

• Establish and maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers, and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Collaborate with others to address learner needs.
• Consult with parents and appropriate school personnel regarding each student's intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

• Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills and keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
