About the Job Applications are invited for part-time adjunct faculty positions in the Department of Chemical Engineering. These adjunct faculty positions are non-tenure-track appointments for spring semester 2027, with possible extension as needed by the department. The primary role of these positions is to teach. Adjunct Instructor and/or Adjunct Assistant Professor positions teach one or more courses in the core areas of Chemical Engineering such as CHE 4502 Chemical Engineering Design II and CHE 3031 Computational Methods in Chemical Engineering.

Course modality is in-person.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Developing and teaching courses
• Demonstrating high command of the subject matter
• Having well organized course plans and delivering courses clearly to students
• Helping students fulfill their academic needs
• Assessing and grading student learning
• Holding office hours

Catalog Course Description CHE 4502 | Chemical Engineering Design II Course description:
Continuation of ChE 4501. Equipment design, instrumentation, process control, hazardous waste management plan, plant safety, economic feasibility, and institute analysis for process chosen.

CHE 3031 | Computational Methods in Chemical Engineering Modeling and simulation of chemical engineering processes; computational methods applied to chemical engineering; use of computation and process simulation tools

Required qualifications

• Ph.D. (assistant professor) or M.S. (instructor) or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university, OR at least 10 years professional experience in a Chemical Engineering related field.
• Effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position

Preferred qualifications

• Two or more years of relevant college-level teaching experience
• Experience in using technology for teaching
• Demonstrated experience with assessment
• Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Pay Range: $5,700 - $6,270 per course (Adjunct Instructor 9404A) OR $8,700 - $8,985 per course (Adjunct Assistant Professor 9403A); depending on education/qualifications/experience.
