Business Development Manager - e-Powertrain
The Business Development Manager – e-Powertrain is responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities in electric powertrain and auxiliary systems (motors, inverters, batteries) for the North American market. Acts as a subject matter expert on legislation, market trends, and competitive landscape. Leads customer engagement, technical presentations, quotations, and negotiations to secure new business and support development phases.
Primary Responsibilities- Technical Support &
Collaboration:- Conduct in-depth research on electrification mobility trends, market size, and competitive landscape in North America.
- Monitor and analyze regional and global legislation impacting electric powertrain technologies.
- Identify emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the company’s product portfolio.
- Prospect new clients, identify needs, and lead presentations to promote e-Powertrain solutions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Prepare and deliver compelling technical and commercial presentations tailored to customer needs.
- Develop, submit, and clarify quotations for products, tooling, prototypes, and engineering design & testing (ED&T).
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and other commercial conditions to secure profitable business agreements.
- Track and report sales activities, pipeline status, and forecast accuracy using standardized reporting tools.
- Technical Support &
Collaboration:- Work closely with WEG eMobility HQ teams (sales, engineering, and product development) to design customized e-powertrain solutions.
- Support prototype deliveries to customers, ensuring compliance with timelines and quality standards.
- Provide technical training to customers and internal teams on electric motors, inverters, and battery packs.
- Project & Account Management:
- Oversee the development phase of awarded projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal capabilities.
- Manage customer credit, monitor payment delays, and coordinate delivery schedules.
- Address and resolve customer complaints promptly, maintaining high levels of satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement & Market Intelligence:
- Stay updated on industry news, competitor activities, and technological advancements in electrification.
- Share insights and recommendations with internal stakeholders to influence product strategy and business planning.
- Travel:
- Conduct domestic and international travel as needed to strengthen customer relationships, attend meetings, and support project execution.
- Sales or application engineer with direct customer contact.
- Experience with industrial motors or automotive segment at least 2 years.
- Engineering degree or equivalent preferred or direct related work experience (electric motors and electronics).
- 2+ years of relevant work experience is required.
