What You’ll Do (varies by role)- Provide engineering expertise across the project lifecycle: planning, development, design, evaluation, implementation, modification, and documentation.
- Analyze operational data and system events to maintain reliability and recommend equipment/process improvements.
- Serve as a technical consultant and advisor across departments.
- Lead or support projects and coordinate with internal teams, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
- For Engineer III/Senior levels: mentor and train junior engineers.
Job classification is dependent upon the level of job‑related experience. A Master’s degree in engineering may be equivalent for up to one year of related experience. Industrial or utility experience preferred.
Engineer IIFour years or more related engineering experience, OR two years or more related engineering experience plus certification as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT).
Engineer IIIFour years or more of related engineering experience PLUS Professional Engineer (PE) license, OR 15 years or more related engineering experience.
Engineer SeniorEight years or more job‑related experience plus Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Special Requirements- Positions report regularly in person and may have a hybrid work arrangement within the ALLETE/Minnesota Power service territory.
- Positions may be eligible for full‑time and part‑time.
- Possession and maintaining a valid driver’s license may be required as some travel may be necessary.
- Engineer‑in‑Training or Professional Engineer license may be required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
- Engineer II positions: $80,000 - $100,000.
- Engineer III positions: $91,000 - $114,000.
- Engineer Senior positions: $104,000 - $130,000.
Compensation offered to selected candidates will vary based on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
