Electrical CAD Designer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support a major power generation modernization project involving the conversion of a turbine generator into a synchronous condenser. This role will focus on updating and creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation to support plant upgrades and Distributed Control System (DCS) integration.

The ideal candidate will have strong industrial electrical design experience, excellent drafting skills in AutoCAD and Micro Station, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, consultants, and project teams in a utility or heavy industrial environment.

• Review, interpret, and update existing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Convert legacy image/PDF-based electrical drawings into detailed vector-based drawings
• Design and modify electrical schematics, connection diagrams, and control drawings
• Support Distributed Control System (DCS) upgrades and integration activities
• Ensure electrical designs and documentation are accurate, organized, and aligned with project requirements
• Collaborate with engineers, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders to implement design updates
  
  Assist during project execution phases to ensure electrical connections and control systems are clearly documented and functional
• Maintain drawing standards and support revision control processes
• Work independently while managing multiple design tasks and priorities

• 5–7+ years of experience in electrical, industrial, controls, or engineering design
• Strong ability to read and interpret:
• Control system drawings
• Proficiency with:
• AutoCAD
• Micro Station
• Experience converting image-based drawings into vector electrical drawings
• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and controls
• Experience supporting utility, power generation, manufacturing, or industrial projects
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with a proactive, self-starter mindset
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• Power plant, utility, or heavy industrial project experience
• Experience supporting plant modernization or control system upgrade projects
• Familiarity with electrical drafting standards and revision processes
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related field
