Opportunity

Tetra Tech is looking for a full-time Jr. Environmental Scientist or Engineer based in our Duluth, GA office.

Position Summary

This position will involve providing technical support in emergency response, removal assessment, and removal action, with significant travel and on‑call support across the southeastern United States.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain on‑call readiness to handle emergency responses and provide remedial and restoration guidance/solutions.
  • Plan and oversee operations and site health and safety.
  • Conduct multi‑media sampling, field audits and inspections, organize and review data, prepare reports, file reviews, collect air monitoring data, support training and exercises, oversee contractors, and provide related services.
  • Work for other government and private sector clients in these areas is also possible.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in environmental science or related degree.
  • 0‑5 years experience in environmental consulting, Haz Mat response, or related field.
  • Geotechnical laboratory testing (soil and concrete), ACI certification for concrete testing, or ability to obtain it soon after employment.
  • Strong emergency response and remediation management skills with ability to respond quickly within mandatory response times.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Highly motivated, customer focused, and works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload, travel, and be on‑call as needed.
  • Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, and water resources.
  • Previous experience working on EPA projects.
  • Expertise in training curriculum development and implementation.
  • GIS data analysis, geo‑statistics, coding (VBA, Python, etc.), and data management skills.
  • 40‑hour OSHA, IPC or related training or demonstrated first responder (environmental emergency response) experience.
  • Asbestos certification.
Driving Requirement

This position requires driving regularly. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good standing is required.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 40 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors

Primary work environment is office/field. Requires occasional travel to client sites, exposure to weather conditions and terrain. May involve long periods in a motor vehicle. May require some evening and/or weekend work and/or travel.
