Job Summary
SEH is seeking an experienced Electrical Group Leader to lead and grow our Electrical Engineering discipline within the Mechanical/Electrical Practice in Minnesota. This role blends technical leadership, team development, and business growth, overseeing a team of approximately 10 engineers and designers supporting municipal and industrial projects. The Electrical Group Manager will remain actively involved in project delivery while mentoring staff, supporting proposals, strengthening client relationships, and expanding the discipline's market presence.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity focused on technical excellence, internal collaboration, and sustainable growth within an employee-owned firm.

Role Mission
Lead, grow, and elevate SEH's Electrical Engineering team by:
- Developing high-performing engineers
- Supporting profitable project delivery
- Expanding client relationships
- Driving discipline growth across water, wastewater, and industrial markets
- Maintaining strong technical involvement
What You Will Own
1. Electrical Discipline Leadership (Team of ~10 and Growing)
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and designers
- Conduct performance development conversations and succession planning
- Recruit and hire strategically to support growth
- Align team workload with project demand and future pipeline
- Build a culture of accountability and technical excellence
Success Indicators:
- High engagement and retention
- Clear succession depth within the group
- Strong utilization alignment
- Successful onboarding of new hires
2. Technical Excellence & Project Leadership
- Serve as Electrical Discipline Lead on complex municipal and industrial projects
- Provide technical oversight on power distribution, controls, arc flash, lighting, backup systems
- Ensure quality assurance processes are followed
- Support project managers in delivering projects on scope, schedule, and budget
Success Indicators:
- Minimal rework and QA issues
- Strong client technical feedback
- Effective coordination with PMs
- Projects delivered within margin targets
3. Growth & Business Development
- Support proposal development and interviews
- Develop relationships with municipal and industrial clients
- Partner with internal disciplines (Water/Wastewater, Architecture, Civil)
- Identify cross-selling opportunities
- Contribute to sales goals and PM-managed revenue targets
Success Indicators:
- Increased backlog for Electrical discipline
- Repeat client engagements
- Successful proposal support
- Expansion into adjacent markets
4. Internal Client Partnership
- Serve as a trusted internal partner to:
- Water/Wastewater teams
- Architectural teams
- Civil project teams
- Ensure Electrical services are integrated early in project planning
- Support PMs with staffing forecasts and technical risk mitigation
Success Indicators:
- Strong internal satisfaction from practice leaders
- Reduced late-stage electrical design conflicts
- Predictable staffing planning
Who We're Looking For
You are:
- A licensed Professional Engineer
- 10+ years into your electrical engineering career
