Job Overview

The Electrical Engineer – Liquids Pump Station Facilities is responsible for overseeing the engineering design of pump station facilities for capital expansion, maintenance, and reliability projects executed by third-party engineering consultants. This role ensures all designs comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable industry codes while meeting project budget and schedule objectives.

The position serves as a key liaison between Project Execution, Operations, Shared Services, Construction, and external engineering firms to ensure project requirements are effectively incorporated into design deliverables and successfully implemented throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee third-party engineering consultants to ensure design deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure pump station facility designs comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, codes, and corporate specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership for the design of electrical systems, equipment, components, and interconnecting infrastructure.
  • Review and approve engineering design deliverables, including:
    • Engineering drawings
    • Technical reports
    • Material and equipment lists
    • Design calculations and specifications
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design review meetings with engineering consultants, Project Managers, Operations personnel, and Construction teams.
  • Evaluate project scope, design approaches, performance expectations, and constructability considerations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure operational, maintenance, safety, and project requirements are incorporated into the final design.
  • Review vendor quotations and technical submissions.
  • Perform technical evaluations and recommend equipment selections based on:
    • Technical suitability
    • Cost competitiveness
    • Delivery schedules
    • Life-cycle performance
  • Evaluate a variety of equipment and materials, including:
    • Pumps and motors
    • Generators
    • Vessels
    • Buildings and electrical shelters
    • Piping systems
    • Valves and fittings
  • Identify, document, and communicate lessons learned and quality-related issues from assigned projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with departmental projects and strategic initiatives as required.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant engineering experience in industrial, utility, pipeline, oil and gas, energy, or related infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience working with engineering design standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems associated with pump stations, industrial facilities, or similar infrastructure.

Preferred:

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply engineering standards, modify existing solutions, and leverage previous experience to resolve technical challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and operations personnel throughout project execution.
Working Conditions
  • 80% of work is office-based, working with multiple project teams
  • 20% of time is in the field scoping projects or supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning activities

  • Work requires strong computer skills, typically using Microsoft Office applications
