Arc Northland is a nonprofit organization that supports individuals with disabilities and their families through education, advocacy, and mission-based services.
The Finance Director is a professional leadership position responsible for providing administrative and financial support to the management of Arc Northland. This role ensures the organization’s legal, financial, personnel, records management, and operational requirements are effectively maintained and fulfilled. The Finance Director works closely with the Executive Director to support program budgeting, financial planning, and the overall financial health of the agency.

Essential Job Functions- Adhere to all Arc Northland Policies and Procedures as outlined in Arc Northland’s Employee Handbook.
- Must pass Department of Human Services Background Study.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to develop, manage, and monitor program budgets.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to support and maintain the overall financial health of the organization.
- Carry out Human Resources responsibilities in coordination with the Executive Director, including support for personnel management and related functions.
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records for the agency.
- Continuously monitor and assess the organization’s financial information needs and implement necessary changes to ensure accurate and effective reporting.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with banks, funding sources, partner agencies, and other financial institutions to support timely resolution of issues and guidance on new initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the organization’s business data processing and accounting systems.
- Maintain organized and secure financial files and records.
- Oversee all accounts payable activities.
- Record and appropriately file all checks received by the agency.
- Administer payroll and related payroll functions.
- Maintain payroll records and prepare and submit all required quarterly and annual State and Federal reports in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage all payroll‑related activities, including wage garnishments, insurance deductions, retirement contributions, direct deposit processing, and payroll issuance.
- Accurately record payroll activities within the computerized accounting system.
- Complete employment verification requests for Arc Northland employees.
- Submit bi‑weekly tax payments and prepare and submit all required quarterly tax reports.
- Prepare and submit all required annual reports, including W‑2 forms.
- Serve as a resource to external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Assist the Executive Director and the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Arc Northland’s annual budget.
- Follow all established accounting policies and written standard operating procedures.
- Prepare weekly bank deposits, or more frequently as needed.
- In collaboration with the Project Coordinator, prepare and submit required financial reports to grantors, including county, state, federal, and private foundation funding sources.
- Record all fiscal activities within the computerized accounting system, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Develop, maintain, and update written standard operating procedures related to financial and administrative processes.
- Maintain and organize personnel files in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
- Prepare the annual self‑audit for workers’ compensation insurance.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and legal counsel, assist in managing workers’ compensation claims.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and legal counsel, assist in managing unemployment claims.
- Work with the Executive Director to receive, review, and investigate incident reports.
- Oversee the work of any person(s) Arc Northland contracts with for financial services (payroll, accounts payable, billing, etc.).
