Position: Investment Banking & Finance Advisory: Sustainability & Low Carbon Transition USA, Senior Analyst

Responsibilities

Contribute to client dialogue, pitches, and the execution of mandates alongside senior bankers and product teams within the Sustainability & Low Carbon Transition Advisory team.

  • Understand and develop financial modelling tools; manipulate models to project financial statements and key credit metrics.
  • Create high‑quality client‑ready presentations (pitch books, proposals, management presentations) translating complex analysis into clear, concise slides with strong storylines, charts, and visuals.
  • Maintain and improve analytical tools and templates.
  • Deliver oral and written presentations for client marketing and internal purposes.
  • Interact with other teams within the BBVA Group and participate in client meetings when practical.
  • Support senior managers in the origination and successful closing of new business opportunities, primarily in investment banking, global markets, and sustainability product solutions.
  • Offer a comprehensive market and financial advisory service to clients, delivering tailored investment banking ideas and recommendations.
  • Provide sustainability expertise to the Client Coverage team and other lines of business, collaborating with existing clients to deepen engagement with sustainable finance products and services.
  • Participate in the execution team for advisory mandates, supporting live transaction execution (debt/equity financing, M&A/JV processes).
  • Coordinate work streams, timelines, and deliverables across internal and external stakeholders; draft and review transaction and marketing documents (teasers, CIMs, investor materials).
  • Contribute to due diligence, manage information requests, virtual data rooms, and third‑party advisors.
  • Help innovate and develop new sustainable financial products and services to meet evolving client needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 2 years of professional experience in Energy, Cleantech, or Infrastructure within the financial sector (e.g., M&A, project finance, capital markets, asset management), or in sustainability roles in strategy consulting, corporate sustainability departments, M&A, due diligence, or niche consultancy firms focusing on low‑carbon transition.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to deliver under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, cash flows, and corporate finance valuation.
  • Experience with renewable or related financings and a solid grasp of sustainability, energy, and cleantech trends, regulations, reporting initiatives, and banking products, including sustainable finance alternatives.
  • Ability to engage in cross‑functional projects and collaborate with teams from different areas.
  • Interest in supporting strategic dialogue with clients on decarbonization technologies and tailored financial solutions.
Benefits & Compensation

Base salary range: $105,000 – $115,000 (Houston Office). Compensation is based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and certifications. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a generous employee benefits package.

Employment eligibility to work in the U.S. is required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued for these positions.
