Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist

Job Description

MLT: Salary range: $23.92 - $35.57 per hour.

Perform and report tests covering all complexity levels defined by CLIA on patients of all ages, assisting in screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. Exhibit problem‑solving skills for complex tests, participate in quality assurance and control, maintain instrumentation, troubleshoot, process specimens, perform phlebotomy, and provide customer service.

MLS: Salary range: $30.14 - $45.21 per hour.

Perform and report tests covering all complexity levels defined by CLIA on patients of all ages, assist in screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. Interpret and correlate test results with disease states, demonstrate advanced problem‑solving skills, participate in quality assurance and control, maintain instrumentation, troubleshoot, may perform phlebotomy and specimen processing, and contribute to research, development, education, and technical consultation.

• MLT: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• or Meets CLIA guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for the alternative route.
• MLS: Four‑year degree in Clinical Laboratory Science.
• or
• MLS (ASCP) certified with additional semester hours in clinical laboratory equivalents from an accredited school with 2 years of full‑time lab experience and certified as an MLS (ASCP).

• MLT: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent). Must obtain within one year of hire.
• MLS: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP). Must obtain within one year of hire.

Building B – St. Marys Medical Center.

Shift Rotation:
Permanent Evening Rotation (United States of America).

Shift Start/End: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Hours per Pay Period: 80.

Union: USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH).

Full‑Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.
