Overview
The Hospital-Based Scheduler for the Acute Rehabilitation Team is a full-time position designed to support the daily operations of a high-performing, engaged, and collaborative therapy team. This role ensures patients are scheduled efficiently into therapy time slots and maintains clear, timely communication across the rehabilitation department and nursing units. Level I Patient Schedulers are expected to schedule multiple service lines within the same market and one service line across Essentia Health, with cross-training to provide coverage as needed.
The working hours are full-time with a split schedule between morning and evening hours to support inpatient scheduling needs. There may be opportunity to work from a home setting as the role becomes further defined and established. The position will work closely with the Department Manager, Supervisor, and Department Coordinator.
- Patient identification, registration, and scheduling, including after-visit summaries with estimates, patient checkout, and scheduling procedures and labs, obtaining required signatures and documents from patients
- Full pre-registration of all patients calling to schedule an appointment, including updating guarantor information and verification of insurance eligibility
- Coordinate scheduling of services for patients, including ancillary and procedure scheduling
- Handle incoming calls, follow-up and referral work queues, and ticket scheduling
- Enter data into the permanent electronic health record accurately while talking with patients
- Collaborate with a care team of support staff and clinical staff to provide optimal customer service and clinical outcomes
