ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S CLINIC in Duluth, MN is seeking a CHAPLAIN HOURLY to join our HOSPICE ELECTION PROGRAM team!
Salary Range: $27.02 - $39.18 Hourly

DAY ONLY, 8 hours
Weekend Requirement:
Generally No Weekends
FTE: OCCASIONAL, 0.001 FTE
The Chaplain provides spiritual care to patients, families and St. Luke's staff. Coordinates chaplaincy services with St. Luke's education and development programs. Participates as a resource person in outreach programs to community clergy, congregations, community groups and agencies. Assists the director in planning, implementing and evaluating spiritual care, policies and programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Education
:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a Master of Divinity degree, or its equivalent, from a Theological Seminary. Endorsement or commission to function in a Ministry of Pastoral/Spiritual Care by an appropriate religious authority. Four (4) units of ACPE accredited CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education). - Experience: N/A

: WI Background Study upon hire and renewed per WI state law.

- Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as chaplain in a hospital setting, including as chaplain to hospice inpatients and home hospice patients.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Capacity to integrate and make appropriate use of one's religious/spiritual heritage, theological understanding, and knowledge of behavioral sciences while providing spiritual care to persons and groups;
Clarity of one's own identity as a chaplain and role in the institutional setting;
Functional knowledge of the religious principles and practices of the major faith traditions;
Skills of pastoral counseling and group work;
Able to provide intensive and extensive spiritual care to patients, their families and St. Luke's staff in various life situations and crises;
Able to provide spiritual care of the dying and the grieving including the ability to lead grief support and education groups;
Able to work effectively with and in appreciation of persons of diverse religious, cultural, racial backgrounds, gender and sexual identities;
Able to establish and maintain staff relationships throughout the organization and to function in the multidisciplinary setting as a member of the healthcare team;
Able to interpret to the healthcare staff the spiritual dimensions of illness and healing and the spiritual resources and concerns of the patient;
Able to develop rapport and provide consultation and educational programs for clergy and laypersons in the area of ministry to persons who are ill, dying, grieving , or in crises;
Able to use one's perspective and competence as a chaplain in a variety of functions within the community from teaching to preaching and public speaking;
Able to lead worship services, conduct funerals and memorial services and other rituals as appropriate;
Able to pray in the setting of a patient's room or a large gathering of healthcare workers.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. - WRITING - Intermediate:
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures. - SPEAKING - Intermediate:
Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. - MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. - REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate
Skills:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
