Position: LICSW - MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Position Overview

Licensed Independent Social Worker (LICSW) – Behavioral Health Clinic, Aspirus St. Luke's, Duluth, MN.

Job Summary

The Licensed Independent Social Worker conducts professional psychosocial assessments, provides diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders in individuals, families, and groups. The role supports a team-based mental health therapy program and participates as a member of the mental health therapy team.

Schedule & Compensation

Salary Range: $28.73 - $41.67 per hour.

Hours:

Day only, 8 hours per day.

Weekend Requirement:
Generally No Weekends.

FTE:
Full time, 1.00 FTE.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Social Work degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in mental health with a counseling focus. Completion of St. Luke's background check pursuant to Minnesota Statute 604.20.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: LICSW. Wisconsin background study upon hire and renewal per Wisconsin state law.

Normal and abnormal behavior; psychiatric/mental health, chemical dependency and other addiction disorders; current therapeutic treatment modalities; family systems theory; group dynamics theory; developmental stages and life tasks; legal and ethical standards; hospital and community resources; limits of own professional competencies. Ability to complete assessment processes, facilitate development of an appropriate treatment plan, establish a therapeutic environment, conduct individual, couples, and family therapy across various theoretical styles, facilitate therapeutic and educational group therapy, maintain ethical standards and client confidentiality, maintain accurate medical records, exercise professional judgment, express oneself clearly and professionally with physicians and other healthcare professionals, provide educational workshops and in‑services as requested, identify and establish referral pathways, and seek consultation and guidance as appropriate.

  • Reading: Intermediate – ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Writing: Intermediate – ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
  • Speaking: Intermediate – ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one, small group situations or before groups of clients.

    Skills:

    Basic – ability to perform arithmetic operations needed for monetary amounts and measurements.
  • Reasoning Ability: Intermediate – ability to apply common sense to instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.

    Competencies:

    Skilled assessment and knowledge of growth and development; provides age‑appropriate care for patients served per clinical environment.
