We are seeking a motivated, organized, and proactive Employee Relations Coordinator/Marine Crewing Specialist to join our Marine Personnel team. Reporting directly to the Crewing Manager
, this role is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and supporting qualified vessel personnel while ensuring compliance with company, regulatory, and union requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, builds strong relationships, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.
- Partner with management to identify staffing needs and manage the full-cycle recruitment process for licensed officers and unlicensed vessel personnel, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Coordinate crew assignments while ensuring all required licenses, certifications, medical documentation, and training remain current and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Verify vessels are staffed with qualified, medically fit, and properly credentialed mariners.
- Coordinate domestic and international crew travel, including emergency travel arrangements outside of normal business hours when required.
- Represent the company at career fairs, maritime academies, industry events, and other recruiting initiatives to attract top maritime talent.
- Administer Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and Shipping Rules, working closely with maritime unions to dispatch personnel and support labor relations activities.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with union representatives through regular communication and occasional travel to union halls, offices, and training facilities.
- Assist with union-employer grievance matters and other labor relations activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate crew schedules, personnel records, compliance documentation, and staffing reports using company databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- Communicate regularly with vessel personnel to foster positive employee relations, including occasional vessel visits.
- Participate in unemployment hearings and other employment-related administrative matters as required.
