As the Human Resources Supervisor for MnDOT's District 1, you will lead and oversee the district's Human Resources Office, providing strategic direction, supervisory leadership, and comprehensive support across all major HR program areas. In this role, you will guide HR staff and manage activities related to labor relations, staffing and selection, classification, compensation, benefits administration, workers' compensation, employee engagement and retention, ADA compliance, and workforce planning.
You will ensure HR practices meet state policies, legal requirements, and agency standards while implementing effective and innovative processes that foster a productive, equitable, and inclusive workforce. As a key partner to district leadership, you will help shape workforce strategies, support employee success, and align HR services with District 1's operational and strategic needs. Local and occasional overnight travel is required to support district wide operations.

Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of professional level human resources experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying federal and state personnel laws, rules, procedures, labor contracts, and plans.
- Experience advising on employee/labor relations activities such as the proper handling of disciplinary/performance issues; investigations, grievances, and/or other personnel related matters.
- Experience in HR staffing related activities such as job evaluation, recruitment and selection, compensation, worker's compensation, benefits, and equal opportunity employment/affirmative action.
Please note:
A bachelor's or master's degree in human resources, Business Management (w/HR concentration), Organizational Development/Management, Public Administration or closely related field may substitute for one year of the professional human resources experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in human resources.
- Experience working in public sector human resources.
- Experience working with State of Minnesota classification system.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Human Resources.
