Systems Engineer III - Hybrid

Position Summary

Genesis
10 is currently seeking a Systems Engineer III for a 7+-month contract role with a retail client in Richfield, MN. The role is hybrid, requiring one day per week onsite.

Compensation: $62.00 - $65.00 per hour W2 (depending on skill and experience).

The Infrastructure Platform Foundations team focuses on platform automation and maintaining operational excellence.

Build automation tools that streamline AWS and on‑prem infrastructure management, reduce sprawl, enforce consistent practices, and enhance visibility. Embedding governance, security, and cost control into the platform empowers teams to operate efficiently and securely in a scalable cloud environment.

• Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform.
• Manage configuration management using Chef.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Define best practices for cloud security, monitoring, cost, and optimization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate cloud solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and services.
• Stay updated with AWS services, features, and industry trends to recommend improvements.
• Provide on‑call support for escalations and incidents.

• 10+ years as a proven System Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Dev Ops Engineer focusing on building platform automation tools and maintaining AWS infrastructure.
• 5+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or Cloud Formation).
• 5+ years experience building CI/CD pipelines using Dev Ops practices.
• 3+ years experience with Configuration Management (Chef or Ansible).
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and scalability concepts in cloud environments.
• Effective collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams and troubleshoot issues.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

• Direct experience in building internal developer platforms.
• Experience building applications using programming languages Python, Ruby, Node.js, or Java.
• Experience working with Service Now, particularly with CMDB.
• Understanding of container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, EKS.
• Knowledge of Backstage Developer Portal.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect).
