HPC Applications Engineer

• Benchmark, profile, and tune HPC and AI applications and industry-standard benchmarks across HPE's HPC and AI product portfolio
• Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering and customer issues
• Provide pre- and post-sales technical and benchmarking support for HPC or AI customer opportunities
• Collaborate with HPE product engineering, product management, and marketing to influence product capabilities and direction
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their impact on product differentiation
• Maintain knowledge of HPE and competitor HPC/AI products and performance optimization techniques
• Lead application-focused performance studies and projects
• Author technical reports and papers communicating findings and recommendations
• Collaborate with leading scientists and engineers on HPC and AI innovation

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
• 7+ years of demonstrated experience with high-end HPC systems and performance analysis/tuning of scalable HPC applications
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Mastery of English required
• Experience with large-scale HPC systems and software preferred
• Experience with large-scale AI systems and software preferred
• Detailed understanding of multiprocessor and GPU hardware architectures, capabilities, and parallel programming techniques, including OpenMP, MPI, CUDA, and HIP
• Proficiency with industry-standard HPC benchmarks such as HPL, HPCG, OSU MPI, NCCL/RCCL on CPUs and GPUs preferred
• Experience with performance projection methodologies using performance measurement tools and techniques preferred
• Must hold U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent resident/Green Card status, or qualifying refugee/asylee status enabling performance of the role without an ITAR/EAR license

Demonstrates expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, with a strong focus on performance analysis, tuning, and benchmarking. Proficient in collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and communicate technical findings effectively.
