Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a Shipping Clerk to join our Duluth plant. The Shipping Clerk is a key member of the operations team responsible for coordinating shipments, customer pickups, inventory tracking, and transportation logistics. This role serves as a primary point of contact for customers, trucking companies, plant personnel, and corporate teams to ensure the accurate and timely movement of products. The Shipping Clerk supports daily shipping operations by maintaining inventory records, scheduling deliveries and pickups, processing reports, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Operate the truck scale for processing inbound and outbound shipments and maintain accurate shipment and scale transaction records.
  • Schedule daily pickup and delivery appointments for bulk and packaged products in coordination with transportation providers, production supervisors, and plant personnel.
  • Develop and maintain daily shipping and pickup schedules to optimize product movement and customer service levels.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and product transfer records.
  • Process and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly production and shipping reports.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, customers, and truck drivers, ensuring a professional experience and adherence to site safety requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels to support efficient shipping schedules and customer order fulfillment.
  • Adjust shipping and pickup schedules as needed based on production output, inventory availability, and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to inventory management, barcoding systems, and order-picking processes.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly inventory reports to corporate office personnel and management.
  • Coordinate directly with customers regarding product availability and shipment scheduling.
  • Weigh trucks entering and leaving the facility to verify compliance with legal weight requirements and provide certified scale services when applicable.
  • Coordinate railcar spotting activities and ensure railcars are properly positioned and tracked.
  • Collaborate closely with production personnel on inventory transactions, lot code verification, and product tracking.
  • Maintain office, shipping, and safety supply inventories and place orders as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and service checks on office and communication equipment, including safety devices and radios.

Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in shipping, logistics, dispatching, transportation, inventory control, or a related operational environment.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
