Our client is a leading international manufacturer of state-of-the-art packaging machines headquartered in Germany. Founded over half a century ago, this family-owned company employs around 700 people worldwide and generates sales of approximately €150 million. With branches in the USA, Asia and other international locations, the company has a global presence in all relevant economic areas. It develops and manufactures multifunctional packaging machines for secondary and final packaging as well as line technology for complete end-of-line automation solutions.
The machines are characterised by maximum precision, ‘Made in Germany’ quality, flexibility, efficiency and ergonomics. Its main customers include well-known companies from the food, beverage, confectionery, pharmaceutical, healthcare, pet food and non-food industries. A subsidiary and a state-of-the-art new location form a strong presence in the USA, from where the North American market, which is of strategic importance for international growth, is served.

The position to be filled is a key role for the medium and long-term success of the company in the important American market. You will manage the company together with the CEO and COO of the US subsidiary, be directly responsible for market success and report to the management of the parent company in Germany. After you have successfully settled into your role and are suitable, there is the possibility of taking over the overall management of the company as CEO.
Your main tasks will include developing and implementing a national sales strategy for the US and Canadian markets based on the global corporate strategy and overarching goals. You will be responsible for growth, systematically pursuing business development, modernising and professionalising processes and the organisation, and developing and implementing tailored marketing measures. In addition, you will strengthen and develop the service and after-sales area and ensure coordination with the technical department at the head office with regard to the product range.
You will lead and develop the motivated team and act as a link, ambassador and role model for the management principles, standards and distinctive corporate culture of the German parent company.
Hands-on, passionate leader (m/f/d) in technical sales with a strong customer focus and a passion for profitable growth
We are looking for a university-educated, market-oriented engineer with a background in mechanical and plant engineering, industrial engineering or business administration, with sound commercial and technical knowledge or comparable training. You are or have been employed by a leading, comparable company in the USA or have been responsible for the American market and are now looking for an international general management position in the USA with overall responsibility as the next step in your career.
You have several years of in-depth and proven leadership experience in international sales with a focus on the USA/Canada in a successful mechanical engineering or automation technology company – ideally in the field of packaging machines or related industries. A candidate (m/f/d) from the direct customer/user environment with sales affinity, an existing industry network and the necessary technical expertise for the production facilities is also conceivable.
Intercultural competence with a focus on American management and business culture, confident negotiating experience and a convincing, decisive, hands‑on and entrepreneurial personality round off your profile.
