Job Title: Shipping & Receiving
Department: Production Reports to: Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving person is responsible for the accurate movement, storage, and documentation of materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This role supports both warehouse and production operations by handling incoming materials, preparing outbound shipments, and delivering materials to production lines to ensure continuous workflow. The position requires strong attention to detail, safe forklift operation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Prepare outbound shipments including pulling parts, packaging, labeling, palletizing, and creating Bill of Lading or carrier documentation.
- Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Enter receiving and shipping data into system accurately.
- Communicate with carriers, purchasing, and customer service on delivery issues, discrepancies, and order status.
- Identify damaged materials and follow proper reporting, return, or quarantine procedures.
- Deliver raw materials, components, and packaging to production lines according to schedules and work orders.
- Maintain accurate inventory through proper scanning, labeling, and documentation.
- Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Store materials in designated locations using FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
- Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and production support area.
- Assist with continuous improvement activities related to workflow, safety, and efficiency.
- Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Company will provide forklift training and certification if not currently certified.
- Basic computer skills; ERP system experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, and inventory records.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, and work in warehouse environments.
Working Conditions
Will spend the majority of the workday on the production floor assisting with all materials, operating systems and equipment.
Prior Working Experience
1-3 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience (manufacturing preferred).
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
