Role Summary The Counter top Plant Lead is a hands-on production leader responsible for supporting the daily execution and coordination of fabrication operations on the production floor. This role ensures jobs move efficiently, safely, and on schedule through each stage of production — including material handling, job preparation, cutting, polishing, staging, and load out — while maintaining quality and production standards.

Working closely with the Counter top Plant Manager, the Plant Lead helps coordinate daily production activities, monitors workflow and labor allocation, resolves bottlenecks, and proactively escalates any issues that may impact production schedules or customer requested dates. This role actively works alongside production employees and serves as a backup machine operator, material handler, and fabrication support resource as needed to maintain operational flow and meet production goals.

The Plant Lead is also responsible for ensuring all counter top installation jobs are complete, accurate, and fully staged prior to installer arrival, helping reduce installer wait times and improve loading and installation first-pass yield.

As a key operational leader on the floor, this role reinforces accountability, safety compliance, teamwork, and continuous improvement while supporting efforts to increase throughput, improve fabrication efficiency, and reduce rework and downtime.

Success in this role is measured by consistent schedule adherence, strong fabrication first-pass yield (RTY), efficient job flow through the plant, optimized labor utilization, reduced bottlenecks and downtime, accurate and complete job staging, and full compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities Production Execution & Workflow Management Oversee day-to-day plant floor operations to ensure jobs move efficiently through fabrication stages.

Coordinate schedules, job sequencing, and shift assignments to meet production targets.

Monitor daily throughput, identify workflow delays, and proactively resolve issues to stay on schedule.

Partner with the Plant Manager to align staffing levels and priorities based on production demand.

Ensure all materials, tools, and job packets are prepared and available for scheduled work.

Quality Control & Counter top Job Staging Perform final quality inspections on all counter top pieces prior to staging to verify workmanship, finish quality, completeness, and accuracy to specifications.

Ensure all components required for installation (countertops, back splashes, sinks, shop drawings, and related materials) are complete, accurate, and properly staged for installer pickup.

Identify and communicate any discrepancies, damages, missing items, or rework requirements prior to the scheduled installation date.

Update CRM and counter top order tracking records with inspection results, including documenting defect codes, damages, missing components, staging status, and rework requirements.

Installer Support & Loading Accuracy Oversee morning installer dispatch and loading process.

Ensure installer signoff sheets are completed, signed, and uploaded into Dynamics CRM.Monitor and improve Installer Loading First Pass Yield (FPY) to reduce rework.

Track and reduce Installer Wait Time through efficient handoffs and staging accuracy.

Quality, Safety & Compliance Enforce quality control standards to ensure fabrication meets builder and customer specifications.

Conduct visual inspections and assist with root cause analysis for any quality or rework issues.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment in accordance with 5S principles.

Promote and enforce compliance with PPE, lockout/tagout, and all company safety policies.

Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.

Team Leadership & Training Provide daily direction and guidance to fabrication team members, ensuring clarity of tasks and expectations.

Assist with training new employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Support a positive team environment that emphasizes accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
