Experience:
1+ years of formal Auto Body training or equivalent hands‑on liquid spray experience within an industrial machinery, heavy equipment, or automotive environment.
Coating & Surface Prep
Skills:
Technical proficiency in surface preparation, industrial coating mixing ratios, catalysts, and wet paint spray gun application.
Work Schedule:
1st Shift (Flexible 6:00 / 7:00 / 8:00 AM starts) | 2nd & 3rd Shift options available (+$2.00 /hr shift differential for 3rd shift).
Earning Potential:
Up to $27.00 per hour baseline starting rate (scaling directly with technical depth) + premium overtime eligibility + comprehensive corporate benefits.
Material Handling:
Comfort utilizing or learning to operate overhead bridge cranes and forklifts to safely position large metal structures.
Location:
Greater Duluth, MN / Superior, WI area (100% onsite manufacturing environment).
Compliance:
United States Citizens or Green Card holders only; must be able to pass standard medical clearance for respirator use.
- Surface Preparation:
Performing high-quality surface preparation, including professional-grade sanding, masking, and chemical cleaning of large-scale industrial components. - Coatings & Mixing:
Mixing industrial coatings, primers, and catalysts to exact specifications, managing optimal drying times and finish hardness for long-term corrosion resistance. - Spray Application:
Operating advanced liquid spray equipment and precision touch‑up tools to apply protective and aesthetic finishes to heavy‑duty machinery. - Final Detailing:
Executing final product detailing, including the accurate alignment, placement, and application of vinyl cut graphics and branding decals onto finished parts. - Material Rigging:
Safely utilizing overhead bridge cranes and industrial forklifts to transport, flip, and position massive steel fabrications within the prep and paint booths. - Booth Maintenance:
Managing painting consumables, filtering systems, and performing routine preventative maintenance on booth equipment to maintain peak efficiency. - Shop
Collaboration:
Collaborating with the welding and assembly teams to meet daily production deadlines while adhering to strict safety and cleanliness protocols.
- Proven Painting Foundation:
At least 1 year of hands‑on experience utilizing liquid spray systems, automotive wet paints, or high‑durability industrial coatings. - Quality-First Detail Mindset: A sharp eye for finishing aesthetics with the patience and precision required to perform flawless prep, avoiding runs, sags, or orange peel.
- Physical Capability:
Fully capable of safely wearing a respirator for extended periods and comfortably maneuvering around large, heavy industrial weldments. - Employment Reliability: A rock‑solid, stable work history demonstrating long‑term commitment and reliable attendance with past employers; frequent job‑hopping is a disqualifier.
