Assembler Technician Level III - Piston Aircraft - Second Shift

Overview

As a Production Technician in Composites or Assembly, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are pivotal to building a plane or jet. You will learn to use a variety of hand tools and pneumatic fixtures to assemble parts. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn new skills as needed.

• Mandate diverse knowledge in multiple primary responsibilities within assembly area, learning multiple disciplines/builds/skillsets within 6 months depending on assembly area.
• Masterfully install components for fit, clearance, alignment, and functional performance within design requirements.
• Troubleshoot aircraft system issues and develop solutions.
• Conduct on-the-job training with technicians.
• Inspect, build, and install aircraft components.
• Understand engineering drawings and specifications.
• Document and describe defects on non-conforming articles or defective parts.
• Set up and use fixturing for all areas of bonding, drilling, and assembly.
• Install rivets, screws, and bolts, using appropriate tools.
• Route wires, cables, and tubing.
• Torque hardware and fitting using various tools and test equipment.
• Follow and properly document aircraft build instructions.
• Wear personal protective equipment as required, including respirator.
• Mix and apply adhesives, resins, and sealants per instructions.
• Maintain a clear and organized workstation to department standards.
• Demonstrate procedures and installation techniques to others.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years related experience, education and/or training required.
• Experience examples: relevant medium/low volume manufacturing, automotive, military aircraft, maintenance, and other fields/skills considered partially relevant.
• Required knowledge of basic tools and good judgment when selecting the proper tool for the job.

• Auto/marine mechanic and collision repair skills.
• Assembly experience installing parts and hardware according to instructions.
• Low/Medium volume manufacturing experience.
• High volume manufacturing experience.
• Military guard, reserves, and active military experience in a non-mechanical discipline.
• Surface preparation experience for adhesives.
• Carpentry skills.
• Construction/DIY skills.
• Plumbing experience.

• Experience in fast paced environments.

Salary Range: USD $22.31/Hr.
