  • Company Culture & Stability:
Direct-hire seat with a globally recognized, privately held heavy equipment manufacturer offering strong job security, safety focus, and zero micromanagement.
  • Strict Requirements: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card); 3+ years of robotic weld programming in heavy structural steel fabrication.

If you are an analytical automation professional looking to step away from mundane, repetitive production lines where operators are treated like basic "button pushers," this programming-heavy seat offers true technical ownership. Our client is a globally recognized, privately held manufacturer specializing in high-performance heavy machinery and advanced work tools. Built on a culture of safety, technical autonomy, and internal promotion, this organization treats its automation team as vital technical assets.

Taking ownership of custom automated weld cells, you will engineer robotic fabrication paths using offline CAD/CAM simulation software and direct controller programming to bridge the gap between engineering blueprints and physical production.

What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)
  • Program Robotic Weld Cells:
Program, edit, and proof first-article heavy weldments using Yaskawa controllers (YRC
1000) and offline simulation software (Moto Sim / Robot master).
  • Optimize Weld Paths:
Fine-tune robotic weld paths, torch angles, travel speeds, and weave parameters to achieve repeatable, high-penetration structural welds.
  • Troubleshoot & Integrate Cells:
Debug electrical, mechanical, and torch alignment issues across automated robotic weld cells.
  • Preventative Diagnostics:
Conduct routine preventative maintenance, wire-feed troubleshooting, and minor hardware/software repairs to maximize cell uptime.
  • Inspect Weld Conformance:
Inspect completed welds against complex engineering drawings, structural weld symbols, and GD&T specifications.
  • Shop Floor Mentorship:
Transfer technical knowledge to operators, mentoring shop personnel on automated cell operation, fixture loading, and error recovery.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)
  • Robotic Welding Depth: 3+ years of robotic welding programming and path optimization experience in a heavy structural steel fabrication environment.
  • Yaskawa & Offline Software:
Hands-on experience with Yaskawa / YRC
1000 pendant programming and offline CAD/CAM simulation software (Moto Sim, Robot master, or similar).
  • MIG Welding & Blueprints:
Deep technical understanding of multi-pass MIG welding, wire feed dynamics, joint fit-up, and structural welding symbols.
  • Assessment Readiness:
Ability to pass internal structural welding, blueprint reading, and quality inspection assessments during onboarding.
  • Location & Authorization: U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder residing within a comfortable daily commuting distance of Duluth, MN / Superior, WI.
Preferred Technical Assets (Bonus Skills)
  • Formal Certification:
Robotic Welding Certification or formal associate degree/diploma in electro-mechanical or automation technology.
  • Multi-Robot Integration:
Experience programming dual-robot cells, external axis rotators, or heavy-duty gantry systems.
  • CMM & Inspection Exposure:
Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) or laser inspection tooling for heavy weldments.
