3.26 DAF Intergenerational Social Connectedness VISTA
The Duluth Age-Friendly initiative has a mission to enhance the lives of all Duluth residents by collaborating with key partners to create, support, and sustain a vibrant community where people of all ages can live and thrive. Duluth Age-Friendly envisions an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming community where people of all ages can meet their needs, live with dignity, and actively pursue their goals and dreams.
The initiative is committed to accessibility, compassion, collaboration, innovation, resourcefulness, and positivity. The Eco3 VISTA Corps focuses on addressing poverty by addressing food access and systems, government policy, community development, education, health and wellness, creative placemaking, energy security, and other related issues. Eco3 VISTA members collaborate with organizations deeply rooted in the community to develop solutions to community challenges by leveraging resources, building partnerships, expanding reach, and enhancing organizational efficiency.
Member Duties:
- Support the development of home safety and healthy aging in place checklists, guidelines, tools, home assessments, and recommendations for trainees.
- Engage with and train local service providers on home safety and aging in place.
- Assess community needs and interests in intergenerational community social connectedness opportunities and develop engagement opportunities to be held at the LNPK Hub and Eco3 Urban Farm.
- Support outreach and community education opportunities on how we think about life as we age.
