Youth Development, Non-Profit / Outreach, Volunteer / Humanitarian
The Carlton County Community and Family Initiatives Department (CFI) is dedicated to creating a healthier environment for the youth and families of Carlton County. The Department strives to create and foster resources, connections, and programs for youth & families impacted by diverse circumstances and lived experiences. The VISTA significantly impacts the community by enhancing program efficiencies, continuation, and cost-effectiveness. Through project support and implementation, it facilitates smoother operations, fosters solutions, and increases access to resources.
By developing tools, expanding volunteers, and securing resources, it addresses local needs effectively, empowering communities. Ultimately, it enhances outcomes for youth and families, driving positive change within the community. The VISTA member will be part of the Ecolibrium3 Ameri Corps VISTA cohort. Although each member is serving in a unique position, all cohort members will participate in VISTA-specific activities such as regular cohort meetings, collaborative projects, professional development opportunities, and trainings.
Duties
The volunteer will build the capacity of the Carlton County Community & Family Initiatives Department to serve youth and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and other barriers to self-sufficiency. The volunteer will address poverty by developing resource systems, volunteer infrastructure, and internal procedures that expand the department's reach and improve service coordination, allowing staff to spend more time connecting low-income families to housing, education, and community resources.
This work will result in a resource library, volunteer engagement framework, standard operating procedures, and a sustainability plan for continued use.
