We're looking for Operating Room RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Duluth, MN. The right RN should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, and/or scrub nurse, and potentially RN first assistant. Read below for more requirements.
Responsibilities (OR Travel Nurse)- Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
- Circulating OR Nurses work within the operating suite but outside the sterile field;
Scrub OR Nurses handle and prepare instruments in the sterile field. - Monitor surgical patients during procedures and respond to complications alongside physicians.
- Provide basic bedside care.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
- Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
- Ensure correct procedure(s) is performed on the correct patient.
- Initiate patient education as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
Circulating OR Nurses:
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Accurately care and handle specimens.
- Monitor equipment used during surgery.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑and post‑procedure.
Scrub OR Nurses:
- Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑and post‑procedure.
RN First Assistant:
- Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
- Help control bleeding.
- Suture patients following surgery.
- Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
- Lift up to 20 pounds routinely; lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
- Potential exposure to harmful chemicals or infectious diseases.
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience (Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.)
