Overview

The Care Traffic Control Center (CTCC) is central to the organization, overseeing operations across three campuses. CTCC staff includes hospital nursing supervisors and staffing office personnel who monitor unit activity and staffing needs, ensuring patients receive the best care. The department fosters teamwork, open communication, safety, and respect, and offers opportunities for professional growth.

Position Summary

The Hospital Nursing Supervisor (HNS) directs, organizes, plans, and coordinates overall activities of the hospital with high judgment and leadership. The HNS manages personnel and hospital administrative functions Monday through Friday when management is not in‑house, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. The HNS maintains efficient utilization of nursing resources, collaborates with unit leadership, resource‑management coordinators, and charge nurses, and plays a critical role in patient placement and admission processes during routine and surge situations.

The HNS acts as an administrative liaison, clinical resource, and role model, triaging operational and clinical concerns and alerting on‑call leadership as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate nursing administrative functions during all shifts.
  • Ensure efficient staffing and resource distribution across units.
  • Facilitate patient placement, admission status, and direct admissions.
  • Triage operational issues and alert on‑call leadership.
  • Assist in resolving issues involving physicians, patients, families, and staff.
  • Conduct investigations of incidents/occurrences and report findings.
License/Certification/Registration
  • Registered Nurse in Minnesota, required.
  • BLS certification required.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Completion of CPI or Behavioral Health Care & Personal Safety Course within six months of hire.
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of hospital‑based nursing experience.
  • Nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting, including managerial or supervisory and charge nurse or educator roles.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Cerner) and electronic bedboard and surgery scheduling preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and based on market data for similar roles. Full‑time positions receive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Jobs requiring night, weekend, or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay. All offers are contingent upon completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with Form I‑9.
