The Quality Assurance Manager is a critical member of the site leadership team, responsible for directing all QA/QC functions. This role partners with operations to execute strategic quality plans, reduce risk, and integrate quality priorities into the site’s operational excellence process.
Major Initiatives &Key Responsibilities
- Systems & Compliance Management: Develop and maintain food safety, preventive controls, and prerequisite programs (including HACCP/HARPC, sanitation, allergen control, and environmental monitoring). Ensure full compliance with FDA regulations and third-party certifications (GFSI/SQF/BRC, Kosher, Halal).
- CAPA & Root Cause Analysis: Oversee the site’s corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programs, managing customer/vendor complaints, product holds, and internal/external audit non-conformances.
- Commercialization & Change Control: Manage the change control process and lead the quality team through new product onboarding, formula/label reviews, specification creation, and trial reviews to quantify success and mitigate risk.
- Audit Readiness: Coordinate and lead all regulatory inspections, customer site visits, and third-party audits.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage departmental staffing, budgets, and capital projects. Elevate the site quality culture by mentoring, training, and developing cross-functional and dedicated QA teams.
- Experience: 5+ years of functional leadership experience within an FDA-regulated food/CPG manufacturing environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: PCQI or HACCP certification is required; deep familiarity with GFSI schemes (SQF or BRC).
- Technical
Skills:
Strong proficiency in Project Management, Change Management, and the application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for process improvement.
